IPL 2014: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
Mumbai Indians, despite possessing some of the best players of world cricket, have not been able to put up a strong fight in the ongoing edition of the IPL, where they languish in seventh position. The depleted looking Mumbai face Sunrisers Hyderabad later tonight, who have just been decent with their performances, winning four and losing four so far.

Mumbai Indians struggling with both bat and ball

It is the batting line-up of Mumbai Indians, which has not been able to help the Mumbai Indians. None of their batsmen feature in the list of the top 10 batsmen in IPL 2014 so far. With batsmen such as Pollard, Rohit Sharma, Anderson, Rayudu, one would expect one of these batsmen to take the game by the sword. Rayudu has been their best batsmen scoring 209 runs. But, their bowlers have also not been very impressive.

Apart from Malinga, none of the other bowlers have performed well. Malinga has taken 13 wickets so far, where he is the fifth highest wicket taker so far. Mumbai Indians had also pinned their hopes on Harbhajan Singh as well for his bowling, but the bowler does not even feature in the list of the top 20 wicket takers so far.

So from this, we can deduce that Mumbai Indians are struggling with both the bat and the ball. If they are to overturn their fortunes, they need to get their act together and see if they can reach the next stage of the competition, which looks improbable at the moment.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – spring in their stride

After two consecutive victories against Rajasthan and Delhi, Sunrisers have a spring in their stride as they prepare to take on Mumbai Indians. Like Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad does not feature a player in the top 10 run getters with David Warner and Aaron Finch being their two best players with the bat.

Rather, it is their bowling unit, which has helped them win few matches. Bhuvnesh Kumar has been their best bowler with 15 wickets against his name. He has troubled many a batsmen with his swing. But, it is Dale Steyn, who plays an important role for Hyderabad, as it is the South African who instils fear and creates pressure for the batsmen. Steyn has taken 10 wickets so far.
