IPL 2014: RCB needs to defeat KKR to stay alive in the competition
Royal Challengers Bangalore still remains to have an outside chance to finish in the final four after the round robin stages, but for that they need to win their remaining two matches, starting today when they face Kolkata Knight Riders. While KKR is just a win away from progressing into the next round of the competition.

Of late, KKR has looked a strong unit, where their batsmen have picked up the game. Basically, Robin Uthappa has been a revelation after the former Indian batsman was promoted to open the innings alongside Gautam Gambhir. Uthappa has amassed 489 runs in the competition. Gambhir has been no different with 279 runs to his credit as well. But, with RCB hungry for a win, other batsmen like Kallis and Manish Pandey also need to get their act together.

What remains surprising is RCB's position in the standings table, as they possess a number of international stars, who can change the course of the game in a matter of balls. But, apart from AB de Villiers and Yuvraj Singh, none of the other batsmen have clicked. The team were highly dependent on Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle, but their failure has let the team down. But, one cannot count these players out for they are big time players who can come up with special performance when the team needs it most.

If this is the case, the Kolkata bowlers would have a long night on the field. Sunil Narine has been their best bowler with 16 wickets, and Chawla with 11. Rest of the bowlers have looked below par, hence RCB batsmen would bank on this opportunity as well.

Comparatively, RCB has a better bowling line up. V. Aaron, Mitchell Starc and Chahal has been impressive in the competition with 16, 13 and 12 wickets. A lot would ride on these bowlers, for KKR batsmen have upped their game in the last few matches.
