IPL 2017: Match Preview: Qualifier 1 - MI V/s RPS
Avenging their double defeat against Rising Pune Supergiant in the league stage shall be the top agenda for the Mumbai Indians as they take on RPS in the first qualifier game of IPL 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Mumbai secured the top spot in the IPL 2017 league stage by convincingly beating Kolkata Knight Riders in their last league encounter. What's most encouraging to note is that the kind of bench strength the Mumbai Indians have which gives them flexibility while taking on key teams in crucial games. However, some where playing at the back of their minds would be that Pune is the only team to have defeated them twice in IPL 2017 both at home and away.

All said and done, there is a lot at stake in today's game as which ever team wins today shall directly proceed to the final, to be played at Hyderabad on May 21 while the loser shall get another shot at it in Qualifier 2, to be played at Bengaluru on May 19.

Mumbai Indians take a lot of leverage from their batting which has been firing on all cylinders in this season of IPL, with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Parthiv Patel, Lendl Simmons and Nitish Rana among their ranks, who can take apart any bowling attack on any given day.

Besides, who can forget the contributions of the Pandya brothers - Hardik and Krunal - who have delivered both with the bat as well as the ball. Mumbai would hope that they rise up to the big occasion today.

Since the track at Wankhede is batsmen friendly, expect a run feast today.

Pune, who had handed out a humiliating 9-wicket defeat to Kings XI Punjab in their last game and given the fact that they have beaten Mumbai twice in the league stage shall be brimming with confidence ahead of today's encounter. Pune finished second in the league stage of IPL 2017. However, Pune would sorely miss Ben Stokes, their most expensive buy of IPL, who has gone back for national duties. His absence would bite RPS in today's crucial game as players like Stokes are hard to replace.

A major reason for worry for the Mumbai Indians has been their bowling. Their key bowlers leaked over 200 runs in the last home game. Bowlers Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenghan would have to put up an improved show tonight. On the brighter side for Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah has bowled really well at the death. He along with Hardik Pandya should prove handful in restricting the opposition today.

Both sides are equally matched with regards to form and team combination. The side that plays better cricket today will be the winner.
