IPL SEASON 5 is set to enthral the audience next season too as it has been scheduled from April 12-May 27, 2012. The tournament would consist of 74 matches in total, which will last for a period of 54 days. This was announced by the chairman of IPL, Chirayu Amin. The schedule for the matches has not been announced yet.

The dates that have been introduced by the IPL commissioner collides with various tours that fall under the ICC calendar. Major teams such as Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would be engaged when the IPL is underway. The IPL has been scheduled keeping the Indian players in mind as they would have returned from their tour of Australia by then.Apart from the Indian players, there are many players from Australia, Sri Lanka and other countries who represent their respective franchises. Hence, there arises a serious need for an IPL window for the players too. The ongoing meeting of the ICC Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Hong Kong is expected to come out with some decisions about the highly debated IPL window. The ICC has never been keen on a separate IPL window.
The IPL have been earning huge revenue each and every year. It is the BCCI that is benefitting the most. But, players across the globe are also given an opportunity by the competition where they can showcase their skills and get noticed by their national selectors, as the game is viewed far and wide.
