IPL has been a good platform for international talent
The just-concluded IPL 2012 turned out to be a good platform to bring in talent from around the..

THE FIFTH season of IPL 2012 started off last month with a grand opening ceremony - having the likes of Katy Perry, etc. The 54-day long war between nine teams managed to garner huge support not only in India but across the world.

This was seen from the fact that the IPL season 5 managed to surpass the previous season's TAM rating. With new and innovative marketing prospects like Twitter, the tournament also managed to keep the audience in constant interest during the whole tournament.

It was expected to be a IPL with much louder noise than the previous season. Being the second highest paid league in world it was bound to happen. The major revenue came from broadcasting rights, and primary sponsorships that go to the central body ruling cricket in India. At the franchise or owner level, revenue generated was mostly from team sponsorship, ticket sales, ads, and merchandise sales.

The overheads for the central body are the franchisee fees, and the overhead for the franchise is the salary of players, accommodation, and stadium cost, etc. Considering the expenses, IPL has also helped the cause of discovering new talent in our country. In other words, it has brought in rich experience and talent from around the world, all of them were tested on one big platform - and this was not only good for the game but also improving the game of cricket in India.
