It was a great day for players who were sold today in the IPL auction at Bangalore as they became richer as compared to the last year. It was R. Jadeja's day, who was sold to CSK for more than 2..

CRICKETERS WERE sold in the latest IPL auctions in Bangalore for its fifth season, which is scheduled to start on 4th of April 2012. The day was full of action with as many as 144 players under the hammer. The IPL franchises participating in the mega spectacle were there to get the best buy in the auctions. The auctioneer for the event was Richard Madley, who took the excitement to a different level.

Everyone had expected Ravindra Jadeja to be the biggest catch of the day. Yes, it was, as he was sold off to the IPL defending champions CSK for USD 2 million plus an undisclosed amount, thus making him the highest bidded player for the day. Chennai were just left as a mere spectator, after they had used all their money on the single player. They seemed to have come with a specific aim, which they executed perfectly well. CSK and Deccan Chargers had to involve themselves in a tie breaker, which was won by CSK to get Jadeja.

Other players in the auction who got richer were Brendon McCullum who was purchased by KKR for USD 900,000, Muttiah Muralitharan (RCB) for USD 220,000, M. Jayawardene (DD) for USD 1.4 million, Herschelle Gibbs ( MI), for USD 50,000, Andre Russell (DD) USD 450,000, Vinay Kumar (RCB) for USD 1 million, S Sreesanth (RR) for US$ 400,000, as reported by espnstar.com among a list of many other cricketers who were sold in the auction.

Though, some players in the auction such as Ajantha Mendis, Ravi Rampaul, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Moises Henriques, Owais Shah, and Andy McKay, etc., remained unsold during the auction. Apart from these players, there were many players who could not get any buyer.

By the way how things unrolled during the auction, the teams had done their homework well and were buying according to what their team lacked in the last edition. There were no such buys, where franchises wasted their money. Some good buys were Herschelle Gibbs by Mumbai Indians for USD 50,000. Though Mumbai has one of the best batting line up in the IPL, they have strengthened their line up by buying a player who could also open the innings as well as adjust in the middle order. He is a brilliant fielder too. Azhar Mahmood was brought in by Kings XI Punjab, for USD200,000, reported espnstar.com. It could be one of the best buys looking at the money that has been put in. He is an all rounder, who can bat and bowl, which makes him a lethal T20 cricketer. It was an auction, where the franchises took minimal risk, as they have gained in experience from their past auctions.
