Iran all set for uranium enrichment, US condemns
The Iranian government has decided to go ahead with its uranium enrichment at its plant in north Iran. The move has been condemned vehemently by the US administration.

IN COMPLIANCE with the Iranian government's latest decision, the work of enriching uranium to the 20-percent level is going to start at its Qom city plant. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed the Iranian action in this regard.

Reacting to the Iranian move, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that it seems that the Iranian government had violated the international norms and its growing isolation in the world community was self-inflicted.

Hillary Clinton also said that construction of the plant in Qom had been carried out secretly for the last three years.

"Iran only declared the Qom facility to the IAEA after it was discovered by the international community following three years of covert construction. Iran has announced it intends to consolidate and increase its production of uranium enriched to a near 20 percent level at this facility," Clinton said, reported PTI.

The US Administration does not find any justification for uranium enrichment since this will lead to production of weapons-grade uranium ultimately by Iran.

The US has asked Iran to stop uranium enrichment work in compliance with its international nuclear obligations.
