Iranian President survives assassination attempt
The home made grenade exploded about 100 meters away from Iranian President's convoy. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the attack and authorities have launched an investigation, reports said.

AN ATTEMPT was made on the life of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Hamedan city in western Iran on Wednesday morning. The Iranian President, however, escaped unheart in the grenade attack, which exploded near his convoy, while Ahmadinejad was on his way to address a gathering.

Despite the blast, the Iranian President remained calm and went ahead with the scheduled speech, which was telecast on the state television later.

However, people familiar with the matter have rejected such reports saying that no such attack had happened although it was reported that there was smoke bellowing out from the blast site. On the rumours, Press TV said that some foreign news sources were responsible for publishing such news, which lead to confusion in Iran's capital, Tehran.
