IRCTC's new venture 'Wedding on Wheels' hopes to attract NRIs, foreigners
Destination weddings have become old, now 'Wedding on Wheels' is here! The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of Indian Railways, has introduced a service under which it will host weddings aboard luxury trains.

As Indians, we are obsessed of fancy and lavish weddings, so the couples always look for some unique locations where they can take their wedding vows and make it special. Usually, couples plan for destination weddings to make it special.

But, now the IRCTC has joined this bandwagon of lavish wedding culture and is planning to offer a service 'Wedding on wheels', which will enable the couples to take their marriage vows on the move.

Under this venture, the IRCTC will offer wedding experiences with five-star facilities, decor, and food aboard luxury or semi-luxury trains while chugging around the Indian countryside.

Indian Railways has this prestige of operating some of the most luxurious trains in the world, namely Palace on Wheels, Maharaja's Express, The Golden Chariot, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels and Deccan Odyssey.

Till now these trains just used to entertain the tourists, but from now onwards they will become the venue for some of the lavish marriages. Wedding planners will customise different wedding packages as per the requirement of the couples like the luxury or semi-luxury coaches, travel circuits, food, the number of guests, decorations etc. The cost will depend on the facilities used.

A railway official said, "It's similar to offering everything one could expect during a wedding held in a hotel, resort or farmhouse. There will be the best of everything, managed by experts to make it one of the most memorable events for the bride, groom, and their families…. We are finalising the finer details and will launch these packages on demand. We are hoping it's a huge success," the official added," reported The New Indian Express.

IRCTC hopes to attract NRIs, foreigners and other couples looking for the classic Indian wedding experience to come aboard its Wedding on Wheels journey.
