Ritesh Batra's film 'Lunchbox,' which is scheduled to release on 20 September has already left international audiences awestruck with its brilliant story and fine performances by Irfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur. The latest talks doing the rounds is that Lunchbox can be nominated for the Oscars.
When critical acclaimed actor Irfan Khan was asked about it, without revealing much, the actor said, “ Lunchbox has the potential to travel far.” As was reported by nnis, he also shared that one of the Hollywood reporters also wrote an article, which stated that he would like to see Lunchbox at Oscars.
If this is true and the film does end up in the Oscars then it would be Irfan Khan's second film in a row to reach the acclaimed red carpet ceremony in the United Nations. Last Year, his film Life of Pi was also nominated in the Academy Awards. However, this would his first Indian film to be nominated for the prestigious award.
Lunchbox, whose idea originated from the dabba system in Mumbai, is a sweet and touching lovestory between a bored government official and a neglected housewife. Although, the film is yet to release in India, it is garnering interest because of the actor himself. Known as one of the most bankable actors of Bollywood, Irrfan Khan's last movie 'Paan Singh Tomar' won many hearts in India and abroad.
