Irresponsibility within TV news media
Television news media no more remains watchdog of the society, as all stories are juiced up to have more and more entertainment value. People, on the other hand, get cheated as they turn towards television for fulfillment of their information needs.

JOURNALISTS HAVE been considered to be ‘the watch dogs of the society’ ever since the concept of journalism came into existence. While the profession basically started with print media, it got running into our nerves through the electronic media only.

The impact of the latter is considered to be much more because it's the electronic media that brings the news first to our homes. In that respect the print media lags behind. But the vivid analytical interpretation is only and solely provided by the newspapers.

In today’s fast life, people tend to rely on electronic media more. They get the glimpses of the news in a minute rather than going through pages of the newspapers or magazines. So with passing of each day, the impact, effect and power of the electronic media is increasing.

There is a common saying, “With power, comes responsibility.” So, inevitably the responsibility gets doubled. The electronic media industry should be more and more cautious on the accuracy of the information. However, rather than devoting their efforts to be conscious on bringing the accurate information to the society, they do so to increase their channel’s TRP and moulding the news value for entertaining the audiences.

Not all news can be given an entertainment value, which is what they should learn. Political, social and human interests stories, business stories – each of them is given as much entertainment element to it as possible so as to gather audience. This violates the norms of journalism.

Who will remind the big stars of the media industry, the so called ‘well known news organisations of the country’? Unnecessary lengthening of the stories, dramatisation of crucial issues - all these are responsible for the degradation of their credibility.

The common masses who depends on this medium as their information source, are being basically fooled .Being ignorant of ‘behind the scene’ scenario they are unable to raise their voices. But we, who are socially responsible citizens and aware of such confusion, we can lead the revolt against such a violation of journalism.

Yes, You have raised a genuine issue. News channels have licence for News and News based programme analysis but what one sees on News Channels is pure Infotainment, that is News used and turned into an entertainment fountain. The News is not only used to entertain but it is misused with a slant and deliberate misinformation for ulterior purposes. TRP is not the only reason, the political and economic philosophy of the class which rules us and controls our maximum natural resources and uses these to its optimum for their own benefit and cause is a big reason for making such mess of our lives that we cannot differentiate between a serious News affecting our Lives and a story told in lighter and funny way.
