Is Comedy changing its way..?
Laughter has become a business and when things become business, profit replaces creativity and passion. With the flood in comedy shows today, a lot of second grade comedy has made its appearance in the small screen.
Recently, an Episode was featured on Sony‘s Popular Comedy Show Teen Ka Tadka, where a performance was given by the Krishna & Sudesh Group. In this performance, Bhojpuri film actor Krishna and Stand Up comedian Sudesh have presented an act on NDTV Imagine’s popular show Raj Peechaly Jaanam ka. Krishna played the role of Dr.Tripti Jain. The good part of the complete act was Krishna’s act as a lady, which he did remarkably well and the worst part was the double standard comedy which they performed.

Dr Trupti Jain, who was targeted by a fictitious name, was being brutally assaulted in the name of laughter. The kind of double meaning words spoken by Krishna featuring Dr. Tripti Jain revel the hidden dirt in today’s comedy scenario.

Dada Kondke name had an impact in his time, with his double meaning films. Today’s new face of comedy shows reflects the same period of comedy. But, the difference between comedy and vulgarity is a very thin line. Today there is very little difference left between pure comedy and vulgarity. Comedy has really lost its way in the name of TRP. Who cares if the comedy has touched its worst ever state? The television channels are quite busy in attracting the viewer ship and the advertisements.

It was also really upsetting to see a channel’s approach in bringing small kids like Saloni and Afsa on the stage of Dance Premier League Grand Finale for a lower version of comedy. The way both child artists performed was not up to the level. They were bound to speak scripted words which they would not have understood. Extra marital affairs, vulgar body language, double meaning hidden words, disrespect of women have all become the key ingredients in todays so called comedy shows. The more masala you add, the greater the recipe will be cooked; this formula has become the need of the hour today with the branding of comedy for a complete family.

The day is not far away when comedy will forget its own stature and will merge into the demand of market where no creativity will be left and only TRPs will matter
