SEVEN MONTHS after its foundation was laid, work on the Rezang La War Memorial to come up at a roundabout near Ansal Plaza in Palam Vihar hasn’t been started yet – the deadline for the memorial is 18th November 2012. It has been learnt that tenders haven’t been issued by HUDA yet, much to the chagrin of Rezang La war community who planned to build the memorial on their own.

Hari Singh, secretary to Dr. T C Rao, who heads the Rezang La War community told merinews.com that after Bhupinder Singh Hooda promised them to make this memorial for our martyrs of 1962’s Indo-China war, they are not much aware of their functioning.

Last year CM assured the community that they don’t have to collect donations to make this wonderful memorial but he himself will tell HUDA to take its responsibility. But 7 months have already passed and nothing seems to have been done or no practical construction is visible in the area. Earlier when it was decided that Rezang La War community will build this memorial, work started quickly and foundation was laid on 16th September 2011. But after Government decided to take it over, it seems that work is on hold.

The step was very patriotic and praiseworthy as it was to remember those 114 soldiers of Indian Army who died in saving our country, fighting Chinese aggression. Many people still are not aware of this war and through this memorial, the community hoped to tell society, particularly youth about the bravery and sacrifices made by them. But it seems that government is not very much interested in telling youth the brave stories of our soldiers as they are making so many delays.

Haryana CM laid the foundation stone of Rezang La War Memorial late last year and since that time construction work is still waiting to start It was a good initiative by the ex-servicemen to pay honour the martyrs who lost their life for the nation by the war memorial I want to know why govt authorities always missed deadlines and never want keep their words I don't thing this is called politics If state govt and local authorities are not serious to pay tribute the real heroes of nation than one should come ahead and start the construction work by them-self
