India, since the inception of its society and culture, has regarded women, the highest level of respect. Our society and mythology have always reinforced the superiority of the women's balance between anger and peace
RECENTLY, I re-read 'The DA-Vinci Code' by Dan Brown and noticed that Dan Brown was correct in noticing that even in this male dominant world, women are still considered as a strong force of beauty and power. Some evidences are also seen in India, which I would like to unveil:
In Hindu Mythology, when the gods nearly lost to the demons, the gods together created the mighty Goddess Durga, who managed to defeat the evil and maintain the balance between the good and evil.
The thing to be noticed here is that most of the male gods gave their weapons and powers to create a Goddess and not a God, who managed to destroy the power, which they had not been able to end. God Shiva is one of the main gods of Indian mythology but yet Goddess Kali is worshiped when she stepped on Shiva. Any other God or Goddess would have been destroyed (for example: Shiva in anger had cut Ganesha's head, which was later replaced by that of an elephant). See, mythology agrees that women are possibly more powerful than men because of their dual characters of peace and anger.
Great Indian personalities like Raja Ravi Verma had created many images, which were those of women and their daily life. Dramatists like Rabindranath Tagore have depicted women in many spheres of life in popular plays like 'Chandalika'. Also works of Kailashbhashini Debi and Rashsundari Debi have gained popularity during Independence struggle.
Thus, I can conclude that accept it or not, we Indians have always been feminist of top level and have promoted the female worship along with our rich culture, which have spread throughout the globe.
.Well....better call India WIFIST and not feminist. In India a woman is badly humiliated and supressed if she happens to be a mother or sister of an innocent man falsely accused of 498 A or DV by Police and authorities of law....
.india has always worshipped women. true. but not their own women who sit at home or sweat their brows to make two ends meet. woman is considered the goddess of house. she has to be there and end her life there. please don't give us this now
.You are right !! We Indians have been feminist of top level !! Goddess Kali is no more a mythology or imagination today , but its a reality Today !!! Today Every woman is busy transforming herself into Goddess Kali !!
