Is India soft on terrorism?
Instead of just preventing terrorists to get into our country we should learn from the US and take a step forward. It is high time that we quit trusting Pakistan to do anything or helping us in the war of terrorism and start taking action.
THE LARGEST democracy has been the victim of terror since its independence. Premiers came, raised finger about it, talked about it with their Pakistani counterpart, and fought three wars but all this drama leaves some questions hanging in the air. Can’t we get rid of terror? Can’t we arrest and punish the accused terrorists?
Over the past few years, we have neither achieved significant progress in terrorism nor given justice to victims. For instance, the punishment of Afzal Guru was confirmed by Supreme Court on August 4th 2005. After 14 months, his wife filed a mercy petition on October 3th 2006, which is still pending. Justice has been dillydallying in this regard. It seems that the nation does not care for justice at all. America took 10 years to kill its first-and-foremost enemy and gave justice to its country men. In comparison to America, where do we stand in the war of terrorism? Do we take terrorism seriously? After 21 years of Mumbai serial blast the criminal is roaming freely and we are incompetent to catch them. This time, our media was so captivated with the death of Osama Bin Laden that they forgot to expose the government’s plan to take action against the terror group. Only as a courtesy, Indian government publicly announced the 50 most wanted terrorist, which was given to Pakistan on March, though it is a well-known fact that Pakistan is not concerned about it. Instead of just preventing terrorists to get into our country we should move a step forward. Our intelligence agency says that Dawood is in Pakistan. So what? We can’t do anything to get him. Our tendency is that why should we act? Let’s wait for the action of our dear neighbor Pakistan. Let them come forward. But my dear folks, trusting Pakistan is the worst foreign policy in the war of terrorism.
Did America trust Pakistan for its Osama Operation? No. They knew Pakistan. They wanted the terrorist which made 9/11 happen and they got him. They have been the victim of terror since 2001 but we are beaten down over the decades. Time is running out and we should take action. We are not in the favor of declaring war against Pakistan for terrorism. That is not the solution as Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism. But why can’t we attack, like America, in those terror groups in Pak Occupied Kashmir (POK). What prevents us to give justice to our own people? Why are we so soft with terrorism? Everybody wonders about it.
