All guys in india always favour cricket. Hockey is not played in India as much as cricket is. But the reason is that hockey requires costly gounds to play on while cricket can be played anywhere. But I liked your blog too much.
More than the Indian Hockey Team and its moderators, I guess it's all the hype around cricket that is to blame. The entire limelight is on The Gentlemen's Game...from the attention of our Indian Film Industry to the Industrial Gods of India (the Ambanis and the likes). When our country performed marvellously and won gold medals in hockey, no one cared. When the Team won six gold medals in a row, no one knew... If only our government and the "heroes" of the glamour world could have done something worthwhile to encourage our players then...But it's not so with Cricket. They win, and the entire country celebrates. They lose, and a hundred renowned faces of India hold a thousand conferences, speaking about the players' injuries, mishaps and sudden illnesses (which, obviously, are usually unknown till their defeat!!)There's no point in feeling ashamed at our loss in The Hockey World Cup. I just pray that this embarassing defeat of our hockey players proves to be an eye-opener for all those who are just not willing to notice their potential....which they have already proved so many times!!!I have nothing against Cricket. It's just that hockey is our national game, too. And it deserves an equal amount of attention, if not more....!!
