Is Islam really a religion of terror?

Most of the people of all religions know about the atrocities and terrorism of muslims thanks to the media, which coined the term on behest of few wrongdoers who are terrorists themselves. I don't care about such intellectuals who are sharing only one side of the story with the society.

THE UNFORTUNATE thing is that the so-called elites are not ready to accept the truth of terrorism and are always ready to attach the word terrorism - just to sell their posts in different media houses and get popularity.

When a muslim comes on to the streets to oppose atrocities by others on them; it is wrong because other people don’t like even peaceful movement of Muslims. Whereas the same people don’t have the courage to say anything to political parties and groups such as MNS, Shivsena, VHP and Bajrang Dal.

They used to say too many wrong things about Islam and respected personalities of Islam. Same thing is true of Jew supporters who ready to attack Muslims and Islam, and retaliation by muslims is termed as terrorist activities.

In this context, I need answers of a few questions from the respected elite, educated members of society.
Let us look at a few statistics and see whether it is Islam, which is teaching terrorism or other religions? No religion is preaching such activity of killing innocent people; it is the case of a few fanatics who are taking life of innocents.

In world history: here are few facts provided by different historians of our time.

• In the First World War, more than 37 million people died and wereinjured? Was it due to Muslims?

• The Second World War killed over 50 million? Were Muslims involved?

• Who killed almost 20 million Aborigines in Australia? Not Muslims.

• The US dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and 166,000 people in Hiroshima and 80,000 in Nagasaki lost their lives? Not because of Muslims.

• In North America, 100 million Red Indians were killed. Muslims had no hand in it.

• About 180 million African people were enslaved, and later 88% of them died - with many being thrown into the Atlantic Ocean? Muslims were not responsible.

• Thousands have been killed Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine? Muslims did not create the conditions that led this kind of situation.

• More than 50,000 people died in Hyderabad in 1948? Were Muslims responsible?

• Who was responsible for killing thousands in Bhagalpur, Gujarat, Mumbai and Sikh riots? Muslims?

None of these acts of terrorism were done by Muslims though millions of people died in such wars and conflicts started by followers of other religions. Then why only complain about Islam.

First of all, we have to define terrorism. Now tell me why not all these religions should be called terror religions because followers of all these religions had murdered more persons on earth than Muslims.

Then why the term Islamic terrorism is related to Islam only? This is complete double standard by the educated - sorry the literate lot - who are not educated. Because education gives you insight to think rationally but here no one is thinking rationally.

Dear Bharat, For your kind information, most of the people discussing about Islam in different forums don't know anything about Islam.And just because of that people started to believe their version. I am jsu writing another article on the subject of your question after its publication you will come to know the answer. thanks

Just logged into this news article. Few questions I always have, does the Islam tolerate other religions specially Hinduism? Like can they accept a Hindu idol worshipping? Or does Islam accepts that there can be different forms of God? Even if Islam doesn't accept, can Islam followers(not Indian muslims) tolerate the above? Once the tolerance is lost, people start attacking non-followers. We are seeing it in Pakistan(erst-while Indian part), Kashmir. A book or a cartoon provokes & does violent protests. Also, if you go by Indian history before the advent of muslim invasion, wars happened and just the soldiers get killed & no. could be in lakhs. But after the muslim invasion, there was bloodshed among common people,rapes among women & the conversions. This doesn't mean the current muslims who are their offsprings are also like them, but few are there who think they are the rulers and Hindus are slaves to suffer.

And most of these outfits like RSS, VHP and MOSAD used their religions to spread hatred for muslims just like Al-Qaida and SIMI are doing. then why not call them terrorist too.

Dear Manish, You have raised a valid point. I am not here to clear to word attached with my religion. I don't care whhat others are saying or thinking. I am open to word like muslim terrorist for people who are using Islam for such heinous crimes. But how many from the other communities are ready to accept word Hindu terrorist of jewish terrorist for their religious outfits like RSS, VHP and Mosad. I don't have any problem in condemning SIMI, Al-Qaida and other such organization who are misleading muslims. They are terrorist organizations among muslim just like VHP and Mosad are terrorist organization in Hindu and Jews communities.

Hello Haider, I appreciate your effort to clear the brand of terror from Islam. Though from a critique point of view I am not very impressed with the article. I personally believe that we should never generalize things and judge a person rather than a community. Now, coming to the question, why a term like Islamic Terrorism even exist? The answer lies in the fact that Islam is world's most misinterpreted religion and unfortunately a section of Muslims which may not be very large but works very hard to be on the surface, has misinterpreted the most. They kill in the name of Islam and hence the work Islamic Terrorism. Now as we are a hypocrite society, we turn deaf to Hindu Terrorism or Jewish Terrorism (though it is not visible today). However, there are many right minded people who are not afraid of using the word Hindu Terrorism or Sikh Terrorism. Whenever you kills in the name of religion, you append the word Terror to that religion. Now though I may be wrong, in an effort to show that other forms of terrorism do exist in this world, you have gone a little far in your comments or the article to suggest that there is nothing as such Islamic Terrorism. You tried to use statistics from history to prove that Muslims have killed lesser men than people from any other religion. That is not the point. Kill 1 man or 100 in the name of religion, the effect will be the same. And once more, I would re-iterate that Hindu terrorism do exist in the form of political outfits like Bajrang Dal, VHP and may more and they are equally dangerous as TeT or Al Qaida. (And, if you comment on this, treat me only as a human being.)

Read Islam and its history to find why people dislike islam. The first islamic invaders to India were looters and thieves. Countless crimes have been commited by muslims in the name of islam. Religion in post modern world is a meaningless thing.

Dear Haider, the selective examples will not serve the purpose.Holier than Thou perception does not bring the right conclusion.you go through the world history again and question those clerics who either sanctioned the use of sword to spread islam from arab to east of asia and west of asia or remained quite when islam was used to justify the personal ambitions of people from middle east. the scars are still bleeding

Ashok, that is the difference when followers of other religions kill muslim on the name of religion too they are not terrorist and their religion is right whereas when muslim do Islam become terror religion and all muslims are terrorists. Come to your senses. Go through history and find the truth rather than talking on the basis of assumption.

Dear Santokh you can go through my different posts and you will find proper reasoning in my discussions. I am not someone who is afraid of reasoning and logic. I believe that logic and reasoning is better way of answering than your emotional talk. But what is your say about follwoers of other religions who used to use non-parliamentary langauge about all the muslims. Just because of few individuals who are spreading hatred, is it right to call religions of those persons as wrong ?

Dear Santokh, your own opinion is based on your perception and not on logic then why you are expecting logical answers from others. I had provied you killings of millions of people by follwers of one or other religion then too you are not satisfied. That is the problem from the perception. You want logical answers but not reday to go through historial facts. I am not denying that thousands of innocents died in such expedtion by different muslim rulers but my question remains same. what about massacre of such huge type in which thousands of innocents died. If you go through historical facts muslim rulers will be far behind in killings of innocent people in world than killings on such scale. If you want to discuss the history of India then you have to go it properly. Millions of Indian died during different war before muslim rulers invaded India. what is your say about that?

Dear friend, You have not mentioned anything before First World War !! if you will read history then come to know that Muslims too have created much blood shed in India . Much before British came to India , Moghuls invaded india and created much blood shed. And even forced the people of India to convert to Islam.

Dear Friend , Islam is not a religion of terror. As your actions define your character and personality, however good you may be from inside. But , people make a perception about you based on your actions . When a kid becomes a spoil t brat then people blame the parents . It is the same thing here. Islam may however be the good religion , but the way the some muslims act and behaves paints the wrong picture about Islam. One thing I have noticed that generally most muslims lack sound logic and reasinig and they are mostly emotionally driven. I have noticed that a person cannot have healthy discussion on religion and spirituality with a muslim . Instead of using logic and ireasoning they often resort to emotion attacks like "one who gets educated becomes himself above god".
