Is life easy for same-sex couples ?
Even after an amendment to Section 377 of IPC, which has been passed, relating to 'gays' and 'lesbians', the question arises, is life easy for them? Are same-sex relationships finding acceptance in the country?
AT A sub-conscious level, whenever we hear something about any gay or lesbian couple, then the first reaction after hearing this is, "this is weird". And our facial expressions are one of taking offense.

Being a gay or lesbian is one's personal affair and a confidential matter. Everyone has the right to be attracted to both the sexes. So it's difficult to understand why society keeps on interfering and creating an environment that is difficult and miserbale for people involved in same-sex relationships.

In developed countries like the U.S. being a gay or lesbian is not a big issue. Instead it has become fashionable. But the way the subject of homosexuality is still brushed under the carpet is disheartening.

Homosexuality is not generally open or accepted in India. Our country isn’t the best place for someone who wants to experience gay or lesbian nightlife or entertainment.

On the other hand, things are changing with the modernization and westernization of the country, and alternate sexuality is more acceptable - at least in cities.
Attraction is a divine gift of god - no one has a control over it, and it can happen to any one. Also, every one has the right to be happy. What's wrong if someone gets it from the same sex?

The judiciary's mature decision, undoubtedly, has made a big difference. In a landmark judgment in July 2009 the Delhi High Court had struck down the provision of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which criminalised consensual sexual acts of adults in private, observing that the section infringed on the fundamental right of life and liberty and the right to equality as guaranteed in the Constitution.

A Division Bench of Justice A.P. Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar in its 105-page order had said: “We declare that Section 377 of the IPC, insofar as it criminalises consensual sexual acts of adults in private, is violative of Articles 21 (Right to Protection of Life and Personal Liberty), 14 (Right to Equality before Law) and 15 (Prohibition of Discrimination on Grounds of Religion, Race, Caste, Sex or Place of Birth) of the Constitution.

One hopes that generation gap in relation to same-sex relationships reduces and people become more open to this issue.

you said everyone has the right to be attracted to both the sexes. its not a matter of rights. its a matter ones personal feeling and opinion about getting attracted to anybody. moreover, people who get attracted to people of the same sex cannot help it.
