The media barons in print should realise that their readers create a world of their own while reading. Positive reporting plays an important role on the psyche of the reader. It occupies almost a permanent place in the mind of the reader.
WHETHER THE print media is losing to electronic media? This question is on the mind of every business person working in this medium. They rely on various research reports and decide whether to remain in it or move out of it before it is too late.
Large business houses may decide to expand their domain into electronic media. The Times of India has done it successfully. Its Times Now and Zoom are doing well. The target rating point (TRP) shows that. But there are many who are into print media only. For them it is life and death question. If they do not move out at the right opportune then they will not only lose their investment but would incur severe loss too.
Analysing it one finds that though people have not completely shunned the print media, but there is definitely a decline. I feel that it is not the people only to be blamed for this scenario. The quality of articles appearing in newspapers and magazines has deteriorated a lot.The articles appearing do not keep up the interest of the readers. On the other hand, the electronic media viz television and Internet has with the help of visual images kept up to the interest level of the viewers. Further the volume of information an individual requires has been multiplying daily.
A single magazine or newspaper can’t satisfy his needs. It is not economically viable to purchase various newspapers and magazines for the same. Here the electronic media mainly the Internet help an individual to access the information one needs. The cost involved is very minimal and storage of information is also easy.
Now the billion dollar question is weather the print media will survive? I am optimistic on the same and feel that print media will survive in the long run. Media like newspaper should be able to present concise and unbiased news on current affairs. There should not be obsession with a single news. Newspaper should be more optimistic in reporting, because even in the midst of a crisis if something positive is brought out one feel it worth living the life. The media barons in print should realise that their readers create a world of their own while reading. Positive reporting plays an important role on the psyche of the reader. It occupies almost a permanent place in the mind of the reader. The same also holds true with the electronic media. Any destructive images thrown on viewers day and day out disturbs the mental state of the viewers and sooner the viewers will also leave the electronic media and would try to satisfy his needs of information through other means viz relying on information from friends or relatives.
