THEIR FRIENDSHIP has stood test of time and is appreciated not only in India but across the world- I am talking about our batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli.

But of late, speculations are rife in the sporting circle that the two childhood friends are no longer on good terms.

Participating in a shooting for a show titled “Sach Ka Samna,” former Indian cricketer who hogged the limelight by scoring two back to back double century in the year 1993, accused one of the living legend of Cricket Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar for not coming forward to support him when it mattered most. He said “We are very close…we were very close. He could have done a little more but he didn’t.” These stunning revelations were made in a polygraph test (lie detector test), which happens to be an integral part of the show. The show in question, 'Sach Ka Samna' has started coming on Star Plus

In reply to another question, southpaw Vinod Ganpat Kambli also raised questions on the selection process of BCCI, the governing body for cricket in India. He said “I always felt discriminated because of my caste and colour by the cricket board.”

When asked to comment on his so called accusations against Sachin, Kambli said, “Sachin is a very close friend and he knows that Vinod can never say such things. My family is shattered and so is his. I can understand what Sachin must have gone through if he has come to know of it. I can never say anything like this against him.” He added, “You will have to see the whole show to believe it. Whatever has happened, I feel bad about it. He is my friend for 26 years; people should know that I will never say such a thing against my friend. He is currently in London and I will meet him soon.”

But the damage has been done, Kambli has really dented the pristine image of Sachin who in a country like India is a cricketing god. Kambli also completely brushed aside his allegation on BCCI. He said “I have played for India for 18 years. I can’t even dream of speaking against BCCI.”

The truth will be known to the millions of Sachin’s aficionados only when the episode involving Kambli is broadcasted. At that time only we will be able to judge whether Sachin has been really caught behind or given out owing to personal rivalry.
