Is someone shielding culprits in the Gurugram bogus C-Forms scam?
With each passing day, Gurugram's scam related to fraudulently issuing C-Forms in the name of bogus firms is getting murkier.

The million dollar question being asked in political and media circles is that whether someone in the department is trying to shield the real culprits.

Here the complainant herself is under the clout of suspicion with no response from the department either. It is alleged that ETO Shobhini Gupta had issued 33 C-Forms in the name of bogus firms involving tax credit worth Rs 20 crore. However, since the forms were cancelled and the states were informed about the same immediately, loss of revenue was averted.

Shobhini has now been shifted to the headquarters and action recommended against her. She is reported to have taken the plea that the C-Form issuing portal had been hacked by the representative of the bogus firms in connivance with taxation inspector Raj Singh. She is reported to have requested to the DETC, Gurugram, in August last year seeking permission for lodging police complaint against the inspector and the agent of the bogus firms.

The DETC while denying permission for a police complaint expressed doubts as to how the officer's mobile was accessed by a third person and how one time password (OTP) received on  the officer's mobile phone was passed on to another person.

It is believed that if a police case is registered and call details of Shobhini, taxation inspector Raj Singh and the agent of the bogus firms are retrieved, truth will come out as to whether Shobhini is speaking the truth or is accusing Raj Singh to cover up her involvement in the scam. Raj Singh, it is learnt, is on leave and has sought premature retirement.
