The point that humans are not just economic beings and can not behave like rational machines is so simple and so over-stated. When the consciousness was low, so were the interactions. By the time human consciousness start becoming meaningful and decisive in international relations, the identities start to assert themselves. Nobody can so easily imagine colonialism in its explicit form in this era as long as the earth continues to grow. But its not only the collective assertions which are causing concerns, humans at individual levels are getting more divided day-by-day. The world is becoming more amorphous and unstable by each passing decade and this matter more in coming decades than in the past as intervals are not equal and non-linearity is becoming the dominant factor. The clash of consciousness combined with the belief in convergence is the cause of instability all over the world.
The internet is a double-edged tool: it allows all to ‘access’ and learn the things those which are loaded on net provided they are not censored by their governments but it does not bring equality. In fact it is other way round. From internet the Westerners learn maximum and resident Africans minimum. But there can not be any bigger equalizer and level-player and even that is very asymmetric and unequal.
There is one easy way to increase the dominance of the already dominant people and also cater to the demands of high consciousness of the present time: to create surrogates and derivatives all around the globe; in economic matters, technologies and in other fields. But the elites should not be considered as surrogates and derivatives—they will transfer their dependencies to commoners. It increases the consumerism and helps the West, particularly the US, grow in short-to-middle terms. Consumerism supports egoism, individualism and solipsism which can also lead to increased conflicts if desires are not fully fulfilled.
In addition, there are doomsday and equivalent ideologies in all cultures except in Hinduism, where an end of the Universe gives way to creation of another; the theory of constant creation and annihilation. These doomsday theories matter a lot for the stability of the globe and they check the rise of consumerism and materialism. Nobody should think that China being a dominantly atheist country is a rational society beyond a point. First of all China is a majorly evolving country religiously but even the rise of Christianity would not make its belief about itself and the West to come to saturation. It is the wrong belief among the Westerners that China, if it becomes theist, would become more pro-American.
Islam has fundamental contest with Christianity as well as with the West. The rise of immigration and increased investment by the Arabs in the West, particularly in the US, make many Moslems to believe that their caliphate is about to be established and the Mahdi, the prophesied redeemer of Islam, would arrive at a convenient time. At the best it is a fantasy and fully anti-evolutionary. Right from the Common Era, the White-dominated world has been dominating except with certain exception during Islamic victory in the part of Europe in the post-Mohammedan period.
The investments which in the short-to-middle terms appear to increase the symbioses could also be the source of conflicts; future investments leading towards greater and newer conflicts with the world order showing branching. Not all increased bourse activities cool down the temperature with conflicts getting resolved. The most striking case is that of China where the unfulfilled desires and expectations of both Chinese people and the state and those of the American investors could initiate a second cold war and an explicit conflict between the Western axis and Islamic-Sinic-Orthodox axes. If that conflict is not controlled and if the US positions on Tibet and Taiwan become unacceptable to China then the cold war could erupt into Third World War. The growing Chinese hacking of the US Financial institutions and the Federal government sites is the striking examples of growing conflicts between the US and China. Russian, Iranian and militant groups are also trying to hack American computers.
The bottomline that all need to understand is that surviving with decency is the responsibility of all. But if one or more civilizations do opt to commit suicide then it would create problems for all others. Equilibrium requires the constituents and rates to have relationship and not abandonment or renunciation of the system. If a participating constituent withdraws or isolates from the system then it could most probably lead to increased jingoism and predation and confusion as a reaction. Sure, the equilibrium can be shifted forward or backward with some elementary techniques but the fact is that a proper balance among various constituents is a must.
The West needs to understand that its expansion has limits: beyond a point only economic interests would be left in many regions. It also needs to understand that elites of other nations, particularly political elites, do not give up their powers: what law can not do politics can do. All sovereigns have withdrawal options and they can abandon any treaty if their long-term expectations and wishes are not fulfilled. In order to make the world permanently stable the US needs to invent alternate fuel and deploy a reliable defense shield. But then the US would change copyright laws and all international treaties could be renegotiated; again a source of conflict.
China needs to understand that atheism is just a human property and not a virtue. By imports and FDI China has a limited and dependent rise. G2; a grouping representing the US and China, is a dream that no Chinese should imagine. Russian authorities should understand that one big and deciding revolution is about to take place in Russia which would affect even the Westerners. Moslems need to understand that few of their prophecies may not be correct and that Islam since its inception is somewhat inclined towards Christianity. By no adjustment of pan-Islamism can Moslems make Arab world an equivalent of the West or the BRICS and that after the end of oil, the world would not end and the dependencies on the West would increase. Hindus need to understand that they can not rewrite histories and the West is their real friend, if they have one.
The inability to understand the whole and comprehending only parts that too with biases and prejudices is the biggest source of conflict. All need to understand that this is an era of permanent asymmetries and permanent disparities. The US is an irreversibly dominant civilization; once all understand it there will be greater parity and friendliness among the nation-states. If it be not the case then over-expectations of both host countries and investing countries would plunge the system into the era of constant and permanent conflicts.
