By disrespecting the democratic institutions, democratic set ups and engaging themselves in unlawful and criminal activities, the MNS is trying to emotionally woo the Marathis. It is high time that the government take a step against them.
WHAT HAPPENED in the Maharashtra assembly earlier this week, during the oath taking ceremony, can only be termed as regretful, unfortunate, shocking, shameful and a criminal act by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) legislators.
Earlier in the day, a few members took their oath of office in English, but as per MNS that was absolutely acceptable. However, when a member of the house took the oath in Hindi, which is the national language of the country, this became objectionable to them.
When Abu Asim Azmi, the Samajwadi Party state president and MLA, started taking an oath in Hindi, MNS members rushed towards the well and surrounded him, pushing and punching him. One of the MNS members, Ram Kadam, as per the television telecast, was even seen slapping and hitting him.
By disrespecting the democratic institutions, democratic set ups and engaging themselves in unlawful and criminal activities, the MNS is trying to emotionally woo the Marathis. The government of India should, without any further delay, punish those guilty of disrespecting the democratic institution, the mother tongue and the democracy at large.
Raj Thackrey, is this the way to the navnirman of Maharashtra?
