Addressing media persons today, Musarrat Jahan, younger sister of Ishrat Jahan, demanded that strict action should be initiated as the encounter was orchestrated by police to earn promotions and awards from the department. She reiterated that Ishrat was completely innocent and had no connections with terrorists as claimed by the police.
“Those responsible for killing innocent people should be brought to justice”, she demanded.
The call for justice for 19-year old Ishrat, a Mumbai college student comes in the wake of an Magisterial probe, which has made some startling revelations about the case. The probe has concluded that the four killings were staged by the then police commissioner KR Kaushik, crime branch head PP Pandey, DIG DG Vanzara and his men. In total, 21 cops were named as involved in the fake encounter.
Ishrat Jahan's family has maintained that their daughter was innocent and was in no way connected with the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Addressing media persons in a press conference, they reiterated their faith in the judiciary and demanded that strict action should be initiated against those involved in extra-judicial and fake killings.
The probe also revealed that crime branch officials abducted Pakistanis along with Javed Sheikh and Ishrat Jehan from Mumbai and detained them. Javed was killed near 9.00 pm on June 14, whereas Jishan Johar, Amjad Ali and Ishrat were killed late into the night.
After the three men were killed, Ishrat was forced to sit in the front seat of the car and shot from close range.
