ISL first semi-final preview: Chennaiyin FC VS Kerala Blasters
The Indian Super league has reached the semi-finals stage of the competition, which is going to be played across two legs. The first semi-final would witness Chennaiyin FC play Kerala Blasters tomorrow at Kochi.

After Chennai's terrific performance in the round robin stages of the Indian Super League, they need to maintain the same consistency against Kerala Blasters in the first leg. Chennai finished the competition at the top of the table with 23 points from 14 games, while Kerala with 19 points finished fourth.

Both the teams are in decent form and a close battle is on the cards, though many feel it is Chennaiyin FC, which will walk into the finals of the competition.

Rightly so, for their standings in the table justifies the favourite tag as well. Apart from their standings, it is their record against Kerala in the competition, which stands tall as well, where they have defeated them on both the round robin matches.

In spite of all these, Chennaiyin FC would be under pressure to perform. Playing a semi-final match is different from a round robin fixture, as a small mistake in either legs could cost them a spot in the finals of the competition.

For Chennai, it is their star player, Elano who has been in terrific form and the team would be counting in his services for the semi-finals., while the Kerala defenders would be making plans to stop him from scoring. He is the highest goal scorer in the competition.

As far as the highest goal scorer for Kerala is concerned, it is Iain Hume, who has scored four goals, though, their team scoring does not reflect well, as they have just managed nine goals, which is the lowest amongst the four semi-finalists. Chennai, on the contrary has scored 24 goals.

Irrespective of who turns out victorious in the first leg tomorrow, it does not guarantee them a spot in the finals, for the second leg scores would also be taken into account.
