Ismail Darbar joins BJP in Gujarat
What the Modi baiters have been saying about the government of Gujarat may not be true. The minorities are not alienated. Famous Bollywood music director Ismail Darbar is a testimony to the fact.

CONGRATULATIONS ISMAIL, you are a political person now. Your association with the ruling BJP augurs well for your home town, Surat, and also for the entire state of Gujarat. It is wrong to say that you are the Muslim face of the ultra nationalist Hindu party that hopes for improving the economic condition of the people and thereby making our Bharat strong.

When everyone is working for Bharat, a mention of an individual’s religion does not fit into the general scenario. Indeed one’s religion is a personal matter and need not be worn on the sleeve. Dharm is for one and all. Everything that one does from morning till evening, that is his or her total behaviour for self and society is encompassed by the word Dharm.

BJP WELCOMED DARBAR

Ismail Darbar has made a name for himself as a man of music. He is a composer and a music director and he has combined the two to do well. I wonder why some non-BJP political persons just sprang up, sat back and took stock of the situation in the changed environment. Amazing indeed! They could not have imagined it in the wildest of their dreams that an eminent Muslim music director would join the Bhartiya Janata Party voluntarily and willingly.

The surcharged communal atmosphere that prevailed in Gujarat for quite some time after some misguided Muslim vendors had lighted the coach of Kar Sevaks after a minor altercation between a karsevak and a vendor. The Muslim vendors had burnt about 60 karsevaks alive. All hell broke loose, and almost one thousand Muslims of Gujarat were killed or burnt alive in retaliation, so says the Indian National Congress, a self-proclaimed champion in protecting the interests of the minority in lieu of their votes.

The elections to the Gujarat State Assembly held after that unfortunate incident of burning karsevaks alive, found the people of Gujarat deeply divided on communal lines. Having seen and heard about the aforesaid, a mature man like Ismail Darbar chose in his wisdom to join the right wing party, the Bhartiya Janata Party. Well, Ismail Darbar is an adult and a thinking person.

He had weighed the pros and cons of the situation after his joining the BJP. He found nothing wrong with his decision and after a meeting and a chat with the BJP President, Nitin Gadkari and the BJP face, Arun Jaitley, as well as the new Sardar of Gujarat, Narendra Bhai Modi, he acted on his decision double time. We wish him luck.

It is pleasantly surprising that the youth of the state belonging to both the communities have not reacted to the decision differently. Darbar says that a bag containing important political papers was misplaced and resurfaced in the house of a Muslim activist. Never mind that. 62 years after contesting elections, we know that right from the First General Election in 1952 to the present day, some interested communal parties and persons have been raising the point of Hindu vs Muslims. The selfish interest of some political parties supersedes national interests, especially during the election time. Indeed a disgraceful show.

But it is pointless to whip up communal passions now. Both the communities have to live in Bharat now and the very idea of expatriating to Pakistan must be given up. It may be mentioned that the Muslims from the Hindi belt of India who migrated to Pakistan are called Mohajirs or refugees and not given the respect that they deserve.

No doubt, some Mohajirs like General Pervez Musharraf and General Mirza Aslam Beg did well in their Army career but by and large, the community is a disappointed one. In view of the door to Pakistan closed for Indian Muslims, the best course of action open to them is to live in Bharat with their Hindu brethren and promise to themselves that they would live and die for Bharat. Thus Darbar's decision to join the BJP, an ultra right wing Hindu party is the right one and cannot be faulted.

POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK

The Indian Congress Party is the present ruling party at the Centre. It is heading UPA and its constituents include the Indian Union Muslim League. Every student of the Indian Freedom movement knows that it was the Muslim League under M.A. Jinnah that spearheaded the communal parties demanding partition of India advocating the Two-Nation theory. Congress opposed the League but now Congress has formed a coalition with the same League to form the government in Kerala.

Thus, the Congress party is promoting communalism in Bharat just for the loaves and fishes of office - jettisoning its principled policy of real secularism. So, how can Congress party or its followers find fault with Ismail Darbar, the famous music director of Bollywood, for joining the nationalist party, BJP.

It would be appropriate for all thinking persons to promote political and social fusion. Just say Good Bye to the principle of Separatism on religious lines and opt for the principle of Inclusiveness for the betterment of self, society and our nation.

We live for our motherland and die for our motherland. For every Indian, Bharat Mata is supreme and to salute our motherland we say VANDE MATARAM.
