ISRO celebrates second anniversary of launch of Mars Orbiter Spacecraft
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) celebrated Second Anniversary of Mars Orbiter Spacecraft Launch today by holding a technical meet at Mission Operations Complex in Bengaluru. It may be recalled that the Mars Orbiter Spacecraft, which successfully completed one year in orbit around Mars, was launched on November 05, 2013.
According to the ISRO, the robust design, incorporation of full scale autonomy, extensive ground simulation tests and the operations strategy adopted by team of scientists enabled the spacecraft to successfully survive during the month long solar conjunction around June 2015.

Furthermore, the spacecraft has sent hundreds of Mars images from various angles and positions due to its unique elliptical orbit.

Currently, the Spacecraft is said to be circling the Mars in an orbit with a periareion of 311 km and an apoareion of 71,311 km. The spacecraft is still very active and sending useful data.

The book "From Fishing Hamlet to Red Planet" was released on the occasion that describes the evolution of India's satellite, launch vehicle and application programmes from a historical perspective. In this book, the innovative approaches adopted by the ISRO to develop space technologies have been highlighted.
