ISRO's PSLV C-23 successfully launched, carries 05 foreign satellites
In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO), country's national space agency, launched five satellites from four countries from the spaceport of Sriharikota.

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or PSLV C - 23 rocket is 250-ton in weight and it lifted off at 9:52 am, carrying five satellites from France, Germany, Canada and Singapore. Due to probability of Space debris movement its launch was scheduled three minutes after the original time 9:49 am.

PM Narendra Modi watched the entire process with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu. This is the first time, when a woman engineer Lalithambika, who works at the Vikran Sarabhai Space Center, narrated the whole scene.

PM Modi, who is known to be a space buff, tweeted, "Our government is committed to give further impetus to our Space Programme." As Gujarat Chief Minister, he had visited the state's remote sensing centre a record 50 times. Sources close to him say he is keen on ways of harnessing space technology in agriculture and other fields.

The launch has cemented the success of India in launching satellites for the West, Earlier India used to buy pictures from other countries like France. India's maiden mission to mars is on the board as per scientists. Meanwhile, the Mangalyaan is expected to reach the red planet on September 24.
