Istanbul: One of the top ten global tourist destinations
Istanbul in Turkey is a popular destination among foreign tourists and is rated as one of top ten tourist destinations in the world, stated my kin who recently visited the city.

Posting a few pictures of the Golden Horn, the historic areas around Maiden's Tower, they told that the tram ride is a delightful event at Istiklal Avenue. They were amazed that city had a blend of both Asian and European cultures.

The Levent business district is crowded by the tourists and visitors which also houses the Dolmabahce Palace; Ortakoy Mosque; Bosphorus Bridge; and Hagia Sophia.

Istanbul, located on a strip of land bound by water, is the most populous city in Turkey and the country's economic, cultural, and historic center, I was told.

Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea and is viewed as a bridge between the East and West making it a sought after tourist spot with improved infrastructure and complex but exciting transportation network in the city with numerous arts, music, film, and cultural festivals being held round the year making the city the European Capital of Culture.

The city is marked with oceanic and humid subtropical climates consisting of moderately warm and humid condition most times with a temperature of around 30 degrees this time of the year, I was told.

One can get a panoramic view of Istanbul from the confluence of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara making the tourists have a view of Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and Dolmabahce Palace along the shore from the sea.

The Anadoluhisari and Rumelihisari fortresses as well as towering mosques and ornate palaces dot the city and are tourist attractions. The largest palace in the city is called Topkapi with a architectural styles.

"Istanbul is inspiring because it has its own code of architecture, literature, poetry, music," Christian Louboutin wrote once.

It is a city worth visiting once in lifetime. As Edmondo De Amicis holds, "Istanbul - a universal beauty - where poet and archaeologist, diplomat and merchant, princess and sailor, northerner and westerner screams with same admiration. The whole world thinks that this city is the most beautiful place on earth."
