It can happen only in India: Tainted politicians becoming Life Presidents of national Olympic body!
It can happen only in India that an important sports-body like Indian Olympic Association (IOA) gift itself tainted politicians, also having been imprisoned in corruption related cases, as their Life Presidents.
It is shocking that successive Indian governments have not so far been able to take any concrete step to prevent such nuisance in administration of sports-bodies because politicians cutting across part-lines have hijacked administration of sports-bodies.

In a welcome development, Union Sports Minister, Vijay Goel has taken cognizance of such 'gifting' of post of Life President to tainted politicians Suresh Kalmadi and Abhay Singh Chautala in Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IOA. The minister has further assured to induce transparency in administration of sports-bodies.

The Union government should urgently legislate all national and state level sports-bodies including Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its affiliated state cricket-bodies to be covered under 'Right To Information' Act in the upcoming budget-session of Parliament.
