After seeing them for two and half months with their aggressive attitude with Telangana people, most of the Andhra people have come to a conclusion that the so-called leaders' statements are nothing but deceiving. At this time some politicians have realized, though it is bit late, that their struggle to keep the Telugu people under one umbrella would be a futile exercise.
In fact Kishore Chandra Deo, the Union Minister for Tribal welfare and Panchayat Raj has hinted earlier that the agitation for keeping Andhra Pradesh united was not useful. But nobody could listen to him and then he gave his requirements for his North Andhra region to the Antony committee. Since beginning he stood up by the Congress party decision and never tendered his resignation like others. Ministers of sate JD Seelam and Panabaka Lakshmi also strongly protested the resignation to their ministries.
Now, lately the Minister of State Mrs.Purandareswari has come forward to educate people of Andhra and Rayalassema not to forego the chance in explaining before the GoM about what Andhra requires.
People will believe her as a credible politician and also the daughter of beloved NTR. Andhra and Rayalaseem have been deprived of many academic institutions. Now it is the right time to demand for institutions like IIM, IIT, NIT and Central Universities for the Andhra area to cater the academic needs of students.
Andhra people had agitated for only once, which was for the establishment of steel factory at Visakhapatnam under the leadership of Tenneti Viswanadham. In view of the fact that the city has developed to leaps and bounds after setting up of steel factory and has become city of destiny, like wise if Andhra would have been separated during the 1972 agitation; it would have been a land of big industries, famous universities and R&D centers now.
But we have lost it because the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had successfully convinced the leaders from the two side with a six point formula. What Andhra has achievedwith all these? North Andhra is stood like North Andhra. If oneexclude Vizag district, the remaining two districts namely Srikakulam and Vizianagaram are still lingering with backwardness and unemployment. Rayalaseema's position is also same as North Andhra's. The Central Coastal area is lagging behind industrially.
Let us look at the small states like Punjab and Haryana, becoming more developed at all fronts. Gujarat which separated from Bombay has been the heaven of industrialists. Kerala is in forefront literally as well as in the area of tourism. Therefore, there is no need to worry for Andhra and Rayalaseema people to build their state as one among the most developed states in a very short time.
The Andhra region has a thousand kilometers coastal line after Gujarat's 1500 km. It has big scale fertile lands and big irrigation projects besides natural gas.Rayalaseema is full of minerals. If everything is strategically followed with patience, state would become a model one to follow others.
What is required by the Andhra now is alending hand. The Central Government has to assist financially the newly coming up Andhra Pradesh state.
Following are to be assured by Group of Ministers (GoM) during the preparation of Telangana bill.
A) The new Andhra state should be freeof debts. As Andhra region is losing a global status city like Hyderabad, newly formed Telangana state and central government has to bear the debts.
B) Capital city should be developed by the Union Government wherever the people of Andhra want it.
C) Two central Universities to be developed in Andhra and Rayalaseema. Besides that IIM, IIT, IISC, NITs should be set up in the new state.
D) Apart from Duggarajapatnam one more big port on the lines of Visakhapatnam should be established in ongole area.
E) Defence R&D centres should be developed in the region.
F) High court can be set up where the capital is not located.
G) Most impressionable capital city would be between Guntur and Vijayawada.
H) Rayalaseema should be given priority for industries.
I) Polavaram project should be declared as national one and assure the people of new state that it should be fast tracked.
