It's embarrassing when people say, 'You are from India, the land of rapes': Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, whose film PINK is in theatres now, said that while talking to him foreigners call India, 'the land of rapes' and a third world country. Mr. Bachchan added that he found it very embarrassing.

"It's very embarrassing when we visit abroad and people there say, 'You are from India, the land of rapes'. I want that to go. I don't like it when people call us a third world country or developing country," said Amitabh Bachchan at a press conference in New Delhi to promote his film PINK.

"We all must work to make India a first world nation, a developed country," he added.

The ace actor is in a lawyer's role in his latest release. The actor also emphasized that women should not feel safe just in Delhi or Mumbai but they should feel the same everywhere in India.

He said, "We should not say that Mumbai is safer than Delhi or vice versa. We are a country and women should be safe in every part. If an incident occurs in Delhi the whole nation feels bad and gets worried. The issue is about the whole nation or universal."

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and produced by Shoojit Sircar, 'Pink' also stars Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Andrea Tariang and Piyush Mishra in significant roles.
