The senior player in cricket should take their retirement gracefully before they are dropped in Test matches by the BCCI. This will pave the way to bring in fresh talent.
OUR SENIOR cricket players such as Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin and Laxman have played enough cricket, and the time has come that they should bid goodbye to cricket. All of them have been wonderful cricketers with various records held by them but there is a limit to ever thing.
In recent Test matches they have proved to be failures. Before the Australian tour Sehwag played number of good innings. He’s the highest sorcerer with 219 runs in One Day Cricket, has over 7700 runs in Test cricket, and holds many records while opening the innings for India.
Rahul Dravid, our Great Wall, has held record number of catches in Test cricket, has over 13000 runs to hiscredit – and the total number of runs he has scored is only the second highest after Sachin Tendulkar in the history of cricket. Then there is VVS Laxman who has quite a good record against Australia though he has not clicked well this time – at least so far.
Finally, we have Sachin and about whom there are no words to describe his achievement in batting. Sachin has scored the most runs in test and one day cricket than anybody in the world. He has scored the most number of centuries in both Tests and the one day format. Sachin still has a chance of another innings in the Perth Test Match with the final Test yet to be played so as to complete his 100th century in international cricket.
We wish Sachin completes his 100th century on the Australian Tour. But there are others who wish that he hangs his bat for ever. It is suggested that each of the above batsman should retire while they are still on top of their game and not force the hand of BCCI.
