It's tiring to be a fresher
With increasing competition, one is bound to be confused about what one is capable of, where one's interest lies and yet every aspect offers opportunities to meditate on oneself and hopefully make the right decisions at the right time.
THE RACE is on. All those who have just stepped out of the shell to make an individual identity of their own, are reaching for the stars. Everyone want to make it big in whichever sector they have chosen to prove themselves in. The dreams of adolescents are like distant stars glittering ahead of them.

Professionally, the options are innumerable and that is where the confusion lies. Knowing one's interest and working on it is the toughest task. Because following one’s path is all about chasing one’s dream and that aspect of self-realisation is a task that takes us on a journey. This is the case for those who don’t know what they want in life but who are good in the gradual process of discovering themselves. The matter of concern arises in the case of those who know what they want but are still deprived of the means of fulfilling these aspirations. And the common reason for this is parental pressure. This always existed in the past and its presence is felt even now.

Parents’ aspirations for their children serves as an obstacle between them and their children. Every child is distinct. There are cases where one's own persuasion towards some profession has been imposed on children. But then what many fail to understand is that at the end, excellence matters the most. That is the main purpose of our being. If one fails to realise excellence, then one fails to be satisfied. Ultimately what results from such wrong imposd priorities is a dropout or an unsatisfied, perturbed fresher slogging unhappily in an unwanted field.

It’s vital to have a vision for oneself and this vision should be the task which should be the centre of one's focus. Mummies and daddies need to understand that peer pressure won’t benefit their ward because it’s their interest that matters the most. If money is the criteria and they feel that their wards field of interest won’t get their ward any credit, then one has to convince them that they are smart enough to make smart moves and big bucks.

Another aspect which needs to be highlighted is the rejection a fresher faces in the first or the second round of an interview. Then even if its for a mere internship or articleship, the delay in the placement often leads to one getting tense; a sense of being incompetent surfaces in the applicant's mind. This could perhaps even lead to fatal repercussions in that person's life as his/herself confidence is what is required for a sense that he can win the world. The trick is not to compare and to recognise one's strengths and weakness and follow-up accordingly. Impatience and anxiety are part of every fresher's life and realising that makes things easier to accomplish.

But, when all's said and done, the pressure still remains in every ambitious mind and the race still continues …
