IWD this year marked by global women protests and strikes
This year, the International Women's Day (IWD) was marked by 'Women's strike' and 'A Day Without a Woman' marches. Many of the marches are being termed as historic as an assertion of women's significance in global leadership and economies along with fulfilment of women's rights.

The IWD protest marches were being seen as the outcome of US President Donald Trump and his administration's attacks on women's rights.

One may recall that on January 21 huge Women's Marches were organized across the US, never seen in the US history. As an aftermath, women have organised the International Women's Strike across the US as well as in many other countries against Trump and his misogynist policies.

This IWD has made men and women to come to the streets to protest against Trump Administration's agenda and policies that were making ordinary women's lives harder and difficult.

It seems that the IWD-2017 is signal for re-emergence of a feminist movement leading to radical women politics. This is for the first time the IWD has been politicized by linking it fight against women's oppression. It has been claimed that 'Women's Strike' has taken place in at least in 30 countries.

The organizers had clarified that this was not the trade union type of strike but a movement of radical feminism, gender sensitization and social reproduction.
