IT WAS reported that Jacksonville is all set to release former Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson on Monday. John Henderson had two years and $11 million remaining on his contract, and Jacksonville felt more comfortable not paying it and relying on its rookies.
With the tenth overall pick, the Jaguars has selected California defensive tackle Tyson Alualu and with their second pick, Jacksonville took Louisiana Tech defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith in the third round. Though Henderson's been a 4-3 lineman for his entire career, he did dabble at tackle in 3-4 sets with Jacksonville last season. The Jaguars also withdrew their tender offer to linebacker Clint Ingram, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Henderson will be now free to sign with any team. A couple of days back, giants like the Cleveland Browns, Falcons and New York Giants had expressed some interest. However it is said that Henderson will meet the Chiefs first. Henderson will certainly not have trouble getting a new job with such giants lined up to sign him.
