CANCER-STRICKEN British reality television star Jade Goody passed away on Saturday, March 21, at her residence in Upshire, Essex, which was revealed by her spokesman Max Clifford. The 27-year-old Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008, revealed during her stay at the Indian reality show ‘Big Boss’ and ever since, Goody had been fighting her battle with the killer disease. It is said that the disease had spread to her liver, groin and bowel that eventually led to her untimely demise.
Goody had been granted her last wish by her doctors at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London to go home so that she could spend her final days with her beloved sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four. However, Jade had bid goodbye to her sons on Monday itself because she did not want them to witness her tragic death. Jade’s mother and new husband Jack Tweed were reported to have been keeping round-the-clock vigil on the dying star.
Jade Goody, a dental nurse by profession shot to fame in the year 2002, as a contestant of famous UK reality show-‘Big Brother’ and ever since has been in the limelight for one reason or the other reasons. In the year 2007, she got negative reviews throughout the world because of her racial abuses targeted at Indian film star Shilpa Shetty at the ‘Big Brother’ show. However, to prove herself innocent and keep her side, she decided to become a contestant for Indian show ‘Big Boss’ hosted by Shilpa but she had to leave the show mid way and go back home, as her cancer was diagnosed.
A few days back, it was confirmed by the doctors that Jade would not last long. Actress Shilpa Shetty had rushed to London to meet Jade but was not allowed to meet her taking into consideration her critical situation. Jade has even a will in place related to the way her funeral should be conducted. She had wished that she be buried in the £3,500 ivory silk wedding dress she wore at her wedding to Jack Tweed last month. The vast presence of English media is expected during her funeral cortège that would travel through Bermondsey in south London, where she grew up, before a service at Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Good bye Jade!
