A row of rifts in the party after YSR's death have finally led to Jagan Mohan and his mother Vijayamma's resignation amidst speculation that they might form their own party soon.
IN A recent development in Andhra Pradesh politics, Jaganmohan Reddy, son of late YSR, resigned from the Lok Sabha seat. He was the Member of Parliament representing Kadapa.
Alleging that the party had humiliated his family, he put in his papers, earlier this morning. New is rife that he will be soon forming his own individual party.
Also, his mother, late YSR’s wife Vijayamma, who won from Pulivendula unopposed after her hsuband’s death, will resign from the assembly seat. After resignation YS Jagan Reddy is expected to announce his new party at Idupulapaya shortly. Recently, Kiran Kumar was appointed as new Aandhra Pradesh Chief Minister and that caused rift in the party. Also, making YS Vivekananda, Jagan Mohan's uncle, as minister in Kiran Kumar’s government caused a split in the family. The close alliances of Jagan Mohan, Balineni Reddy and Pilli Subash Chandra Bose were also sacked from AP new government portfolios.
Tensions in the party had begun with the election of the former CM K Rosaiah after YSR’s death as Jagan Mohan considered himself as the rightful heir to the post. Since then, hate speeches, rallies, protests were seen in the state by Jagan Mohan and his supporters. After Rosaiah resigned earlier this week citing health reasons, Congress chose Kiran Kumar to take his place. Humiliated by such a step, a devastated Jagan Reddy put in his papers although it is said that he did not follow the correct procedure.
