Jain Paryushana Parva to celebrate ten virtues of on noble life commences in Jaipur
The annual holy festival of Paryushana or Das Lakshana Parva for the Jains celebrated in Bhadrapad month's Shukla Paksha which lasts for 8 days for Swetambara and 10 days for Digambara sect of Jains, began in Jaipur with worship and other rituals in Jain Temples of Jaipur.

At the Chulgiri Jain Temple, hundreds of followers gathered to began the festival to worship and their level of spiritual intensity by fasting, prayer offering, lamp lighting and meditation.

The festival will end with the celebration of Samvatsari or Kshamavani which is also known as forgiveness day. Earlier this month, the Roth Teej was also celebrated by the Jains in Jaipur. Also, Ananta Chaturdashi was observed to mark the day when Lord Vasupujya attained nirvana.

Further, the short plays, quizz competitions, discourses on Jainism are being held to aprise the younger generation of Jain tenets and way of living. However, the devout are reciting the ten chapters of the sacred Jain text, Tattvartha Sutra along with fasting for ten days.

At the conclusion of the festival, the Jains request forgiveness from others for any offenses by saying Micchami Dukkadam. The ten days mark the ten Jain values or virtues such as forbearance, modesty, straightforwardness, truth, purity, restraint, austerity, renunciation, non-attachment and celibacy.
