Jaipur-based university launches holistic physiotherapy course
Physiotherapy and physical therapy courses encompass rehabilitation, injury prevention, health promotion, body fitness concerns and interventions for children with special needs.

The professional courses in physical therapy employ a holistic approach to treatment, well being and rehabilitation diagnosing the patient's dysfunctionality, lifestyle and slowly engaging them in their own treatment and care. Such courses are in demand and are used as specific intervention to mitigate dysfunctionality and rehabilitating of patients.

Physiotherapy can be defined as an interventionist treatment with a focus on the science of movement to help patients in restoring, maintaining and optimising their physical strength, movement functionality and well-being. Paediatric Physiotherapy is also in vogue for the children born with physical disabilities; children undergoing any surgery and treatment for respiratory infections; those with fractures; children with special needs such as Cerebral palsy (brain disorder affecting movement) and dysgrahia.

"To  ensure  happy and healthy life  for aging populations of 2.1 billion people in 2050 suffering from aches and pains, the physiotherapy is necessary  and increase  the importance of the profession but sadly  not sufficient with its manpower. To make it sufficient, we need   young professional physiotherapists which is the endeavour of Jagan Nath University, spoke Professor (Dr.) MM Goel, Vice-Chancellor (VC) at the orientation day programme of the first batch of students in this area of study.

Amin Pathan, Chairman Haj Committee and Dargah Sharif, Ajmer; Vice-President , Rajasthan Cricket Association while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Jagan Nath University for launching the course. Also, Prateem Tamboli, Head of Fortis Escorts Hospital justified physiotherapy in most befitting manner.

To explain the growth in demand for Physiotherapy, Prof. Goel quoted, IBIS World  2015 (a global leader in Industry Market Research)  which predicted that during 2016 - 2021, the industry would grow by 2.5 percent annually in Australia alone. In USA, the industry will grow by 39 percent by 2020. The Congress of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy 2015 revealed that demand for physiotherapists outstrips the supply in wealthy countries like Canada and Philippines, where most trained physiotherapists leave to work abroad.

To begin the journey into the physiotherapy profession, the students of physiotherapy should feel ensured as every possible effort will be made by the Jagan Nath University, told the VC.

Physiotherapy is also a physically demanding job for giving   treatment to the patients and require one to be active, healthy and street smart (simple, moral, action oriented, responsive and transparent), justified the VC.

With modern medicine and therapies surviving serious illnesses and injuries has become exceedingly possible than ever before with managing pain and rehabilitating those in recovery. These days, rehabilitation has become increasingly important which requires the treatment of physiotherapists.
