Jaipur celebrates Mahatma Phule Jayanti, leaders pay rich tributes to social reformer
In Jaipur, the 191th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was observed by paying floral tributes to his statue near Sahakar Bhawan along with lighting a lamp by the representatives of the Mali (Saini) Smaj Sanstha.

Also a seminar on the teachings and works of Mahatma Phule was held under the auspices of Jaipur Phal aur Sabaji Vikreta Sangh and people were exhorted to follow his ideals and values for harmony, social equity and progress in society.

A few colleges, schools and Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phoole University in Jaipur remembered the Mahatma's contributions to the society as a social reformer, activist, writer and thinker.

The Maharashtrian social reformer Phule and his wife Savitrirao had opened the first-ever school for Dalit girls in 1848 in Pune.

He also founded Satyashodhak Samaj to work for social reforms and spread of education among the Dalits.

President Kovind and PM Narendra Modi paid tributes to Mahatma Phule on his birth anniversary.

President Kovind in his tweet said, "Homage to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary. An iconic nation builder, his efforts towards social reform, women's education, and freedom from caste prejudice remain an inspiration for us #PresidentKovind."

Narendra Modi, in his released message said, "Tributes to Mahatma Phule on his Jayanti. His pioneering and relentless emphasis on social reform greatly helped the marginalised. He was unwavering in his commitment towards improving the condition of women and furthering education among the youth."

Rajasthan's CM Vasundhra Raje and Congress leader Rajesh Pilot also paid tributes and homage to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.
