Jaipur celebrates World Laughter Day with 'Hasyam-2018' and laughter yoga sessions in parks and public places
World Laughter Day is being celebrated in Jaipur with event 'Hasyam-2018' along with laughter yoga sessions in different city parks and public places. Some sessions were held in the morning and some will be held in the evening today.

The observance takes place on the first Sunday of May of every year. The event has its origin in India and the first ever celebration of the World Laughter Day was held on May 10, 1998 in Mumbai which was organised by Dr Madan Kataria.

Dr Kataria is the founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement who had been promoting laughter as positive and powerful human emotion that has the immense potential of keeping people healthy - both physically and mentally.

Some psychological studies have also proved that laughter improves emotional intelligence of people and makes them more social savvy. Earlier, tickle rhymes were quiet popular to make babies laugh and giggle.

Though not popular in India, elsewhere, laughter therapy that makes use humour to help clients relieve their pain and stress and improve their sense of well-being is quiet in currency and has been found helpful for patients in coping with serious diseases.

Laughter therapy may include laughter exercises, clowning, and showing short comedy movies, fun games, and surprises. Laughter therapy is regarded as complementary therapy associated with humour therapy.
