Jaipur fans celebrate melody queen Lata Mangeshkar's birthday with a concert
Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar's was felicitated on her 84th birthday on September 28 by Jaipurites by organising a music concert at Maharana Pratap Auditorium in the city. Local noted singers sang her songs to a captive audience. Lata Mangeshkar, one of the best-known and most respected playback singers who started career as in 1942, has a huge fan following in Jaipur as was indicated by the crowded auditorium here.

She is fondly called the 'melody queen' and ‘nightingale of India’. This year, though personally she did not celebrate her 84th birthday, but her fans and media channels celebrated her birthday and wished her a long life.

In her a career spanning over six decades, she has sung several thousands of Hindi songs in Bollywood movies and many songs in regional languages. She has produced her own albums too.

Besides winning several film awards, she has been awarded prestigious Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award and Bharat Ratna by the government.

Two legendary actors namely Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini have wished happy birthday to singing legend Late Mangeshkar as follows.

"I wish her a long life. I wish she always lives among us. There have come moments in my life when I have been inspired by her," said Amitabh Bachchan according to various reports.

"I wish she continues to sing more and more. I am really blessed that I got to perform on her songs. I am glad that I have performed on her beautiful songs," said Hema Malini.
