Jaipur gears up for celebrating Rama Navami with devotional fervour
Jaipur temples and religious groups have geared up for Rama Navami festival on March 5 to celebrate the birthday of Lord Rama believed to be the seventh avatar of God Vishnu.

The festival is also important for Hindus since it is important part of the on-going spring Navratri that is celebrated with great devotion and fervour at Sheel Mata temple in Amber Fort of the city.

Various temples and religious leaders have announced Rama Katha recitals and devotional singing consisting of bhajan singing and kirtan with music as a part of puja and aarti.

Some devouts have planned to put miniature statues of the infant Rama in small decorated cradles to give it an auspicious birthday look while fasting and performing worship.

A few Rama Bhakt Mandals have planned chariot processions and shobha yatras of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman with music and singing of devotional songs.

The legend of Rama is popular and he is revered for his idealism, compassion, courage, human values, righteousness, justice, devotion to religious values and duty. He is held high by the Hindus as Maryada Purushottama –best ideal person and a role model.
