Jaipur Muslims celebrate Shab-e-Barat with prayers, devotion and gaiety
In Jaipur, April 20, was marked by celebration of Shab-e-Barat as it is believed that on this night Allah Tala descends to the nearest heaven or the Earth for granting absolution or forgiveness.

Muslims kept the fast and participated in prayers at various mosques in the city to be pardoned and blessed by the Almighty. The devout observed fasting, praying and performing religious acts such as charity.

It is also widely believed that on Shab-e-Barat, Prophet Muhammad himself strictly observed fast.

They visited mosques to offer religious prayers and read the holy Quran. Also, delicious sweets such as 'halwa' and 'zarda' were prepared and enjoyed and distributed among their neighbors, relatives, family members and poor people around the city.

They also remembered their ancestors and visited their graves to light candles and incense sticks. The asked for forgiveness from the Almighty on behalf of their ancestors.

Shab-e-Baraat is also seen as the 'Vessel for Mercy' festival when Muslim people are pardoned by Allah Tala. In many places, it is seen as the night of innocence.
