Ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10, Jaipur-based Fortis Escort Hospital has started a series of daily events since October 8 for schools, counselors and families. On Monday, a session on 'global dignity' was held for school teachers and students where tips to maintain a sound mental health were shared by experts, reported Rajasthan Patrika.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. "Mental health and well-being are fundamental to our collective and individual ability as humans to think, emote, interact with each other, earn a living and enjoy life," states WHO.
WHO is concerned about neglect of individual and collective mental capital ? especially in the earlier stages of life. It is said that mental health of children are held back by a range of avoidable risks to mental health, while individuals with mental health problems are shunned, discriminated against and denied basic rights, including access to essential care.
Every year on 10th of October, WHO celebrates the World Mental Health Day raising awareness on mental health issues through Ministries of health and civil society organizations across the globe. The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is ?Mental health and older adults?. A need has been stressed to take concrete steps by various governments and other stakeholders to reshape social attitudes and public policy around mental health.
