Jaipur to celebrate Vishwakarma Jayanti in a big way
Akhil Bhartiya Jangid Brahmin Mahasabha and other community groups celebrated Vishwakarma Jayanti on February 16 by organizing a procession and vehicle rally along special pooja at Vaishali Nagar and Malviya Nagar Vishwakarma temples and industrial premises. Various machines, implements, equipment and tools are serviced and worshiped on these days as part of the festivals.

Also, devotional singing programmes and tabloid display will take place the occasion. Various organizations like Jangid Sena Hindustan, Jangid Yuva Shakati and Vishwakarma Welfare Society have announced various programmes, reported local papers and Facebook posts.

However, most craftsmen, industrial units and technical institutions celebrate Vishwakarma Jayanti a day after Diwali. It is said that the Day is celebrated to worship Vishwakarma - the divine architect who constructed the holy city of Dwarka where Lord Krishna ruled, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, and was the creator of many weapons for the gods.

It is believed that he wrote Sthapatya Veda - the scripture that explains mechanics and architecture. The followers deem Vishwakarma as the presiding deity of all craftsmen and architects. These days, even microwave ovens, computers, TVs. watches, gadgets, calculators and telephones are worshipped on Vishwakarma Jayanti.

Here is a modern day wish on Vishwakarma Jayanti: May Lord Vishwakarma bless you with a smooth and trouble-free functioning of your phones, computers, internet and vehicles! Happy Vishwakarma Day!!

Here, on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, I would like to quote Pranav Mistry, who once said, "The digital world has power because it has dynamic information, but it's important that we stay human instead of being another machine sitting in front of a machine."
