Jaipur to host 1st Prof VS Vyas Memorial Lecture on 'Bleeding Hearts & Thinking Minds: Beyond Loan Waivers'
The first Prof VS Vyas Memorial Lecture is going to be delivered on 16th February at the Officers' Training School (OTS), HCM-RIPA in Jaipur.

According to event organizers, Dr YV Reddy, Ex-Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and a close associate of Prof Vyas, is going deliver the lecture titled 'Bleeding Hearts & Thinking Minds: Beyond Loan Waivers'.

Padma Bhushan awardee and noted agricultural economist Vijay Shankar Vyas had passed away last year at an age of 87. It is informed that he had held many prestigious, professional and leadership positions in national and international organisations. As noted agriculture economist, he had been the director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Jaipur as well as advisor in the World Bank's agriculture and rural development department.

He had been the member of the PM's Economic Advisory Council under two Prime Ministers of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh. He had also worked as Vice Chairman in the Rajasthan State Planning Board under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, it is learned.

Late Prof Vyas was awarded Elmhurst Memorial Gold Medal by the International Association of Agricultural; fellowship of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He was awarded Padam Bhushan by the President of India. He was the founder-Chairman of Ajit Foundation- a civil society organisation working with youth in Rajasthan.
