On Sunday evening, the earth tremor terrified many in Jaipur, and quite a few came running out of their shops, houses and offices. Many rushed out to nearby parks, play grounds and other empty spaces. No damage is reported in city due the quake.
I WAS on the roof top of my house when my wife panicked on feeling the earth tremors with a little rumbling sound on Sunday evening. She shouted for me and ran out of the house. I just wondered since at the rooftop I couldn't feel the tremor. Soon our mobiles became active with our children enquiring our safety and informing their wellbeing

People started calling their relatives in the east for their safety once they heard that the quake had its epicentre in Sikkim. In Jaipur, no damage has been caused but the residents got intimidated and panicky.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Delhi, the earthquake occurred at 6.10 pm with its epicentre close to the Sikkim-Nepal border. It is being said that this is the strongest quake in seven decades with 6.8 intensity in India but luckily did not lead much damage. According to official reports, at least 18 people were killed and over 100 injured. Government and NGOs have started relief and rescue operations to help people. The death toll is likely to up as many people are reported missing.
