Jaipur's Digambar Jains celebrate Kshmavani Diwas, the day of forgiveness
The followers of the sect of Digambar Jainism celebrated their annual day of forgiveness called Kshmavani Parva or Padawa Dhok on September 17 in Jaipur while the same was observed by the other sects a few days ago.

The followers of Jainism asked for forgiveness from one another for all the hurts done awaringly and unawaringly. In the Jain temples in the city, the followers offered worship to the deity by chanting the verses from Jain scripts and with folded hands asked for forgiveness from one another. On going back home, the family members begged forgiveness from each other.

Also, various Jain groups and associations organised functions to reunite the Jains who had distanced themselves from one another. Some Jains were seen even asking for forgiveness from all living things and the nature for having harmed or hurt them.

The Jain munis who are in Jaipur for their Charumas period held sermons to preach about the importance of forgiveness and non-violence as the main tenets of Jainism. The day also marks the culmination of Dashalakshana Mahaparva of fasting and undergoing austerities.

Though the two main sects of the Jains celebrate the festival in the same month but the dates differ. However, the message is that of forgiveness, peace and non-violence.
